Imagine having more time for what you love—and still growing your income!

But how exactly do you do that when you’re busy trading time for dollars, completing client projects, or working for someone else?

The key is unlocking the power of digital products.

With a digital product, you create something once and sell it over and over again—no extra effort required.

You could spend an hour designing a product and sell it 100+ times!

And here’s the exciting part: you can start this journey now on Etsy.

That’s why I’m thrilled to be speaking at the Go Digital On Etsy Summit—an incredible, totally free, online event happening from January 28th - 31st, 2025.

It’s designed to teach you step-by-step how to:

  • Launch your own digital product shop on Etsy.
  • Get your digital products found by the right audience.
  • Discover trending niches and products.
  • Create, price, and market your products effectively.

I’ll be speaking on Bookkeeping & Taxes for Etsy Sellers (of course!) alongside an amazing lineup of Etsy pros who’ll share actionable strategies to help you succeed.

Small Business Updates and Tools

PayPal Increasing Merchant Fees

PayPal is increasing its merchant fees for certain types of transactions, specifically Buy Now Pay Later and virtual terminal fees.

PayPal QuickBooks Integration Changes

The old integration between PayPal and QuickBooks Online is slowly being phased out and replaced with an integration called Connect to PayPal.

This new integration puts all transactions on the App Transactions tab, rather than bringing PayPal transactions into a bank feed. My take so far—I'm not impressed. I’ll update you as we learn to work with this new integration.

Fourth Quarter Estimated Taxes

The fourth quarter IRS estimated taxes are due January 15, 2025. You can make a payment on their website here.

From Our Sponsor

This tax season, I only have space for a couple more bookkeeping clients through my bookkeeping agency Evergold Accounting. If you have a smaller business that sells exclusively on the Etsy or Amazon platforms, do not use PayPal, and are organized as a sole-proprietorship or single Member LLC, you might be a good fit!

Is that you? Ready to take bookkeeping off your to do list, be ready come tax time, and breathe a sigh of relief? The first step is to fill out the form on my website.

And if you are a brand new business, learn just how affordable my bookkeeping services can be!

If you want to get your business in front of potential customers and clients, please fill out this form.

On a Personal Note

We are back in the swing of things in our household! Swim meets, tennis lessons, and musical practice have us running around!

Surprisingly, I didn’t read much over the holiday break, however, I received a puzzle board for Christmas and a puzzle to go with it, so I spent many hours listening to an audiobook while I put together the puzzle.

A Quick Bookkeeping Check-In This email contains referral links. See my disclosures. Hi Reader, It’s a well-established fact that I’m a bit of a nerd. 🤓 I mean, for heaven’s sake, last night I had a dream that an evil entity was pressuring me to record accounting numbers incorrectly, and it turned into a life-or-death situation involving deadly biting squirrels. I'm not even joking. My nerdy self knows the importance of good numbers. Many of you in my audience are far more drawn to creativity...

Not all business checking accounts are created equal... This email contains referral links. See my disclosures. Hi Reader, If you’ve been on my list for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me harp on having a separate business checking account. And yes, I’m going to remind you why that matters in a minute. But first, let me say something that doesn’t get talked about enough: Not all business checking accounts are created equal. Many small business owners are still using a checking...

What Qualifies as a Legitimate Tax Deduction? This email contains referral links. See my disclosures. Hi Reader, Although I’m not a tax preparer or tax attorney, I am quite familiar with the IRS tax rules for small business owners, thanks to years of running a bookkeeping business and filing my own small business taxes. Everywhere I look, I see internet “tax hacks” dishing out bad advice—advice they often want you to pay for! Do you think these hack-gurus will reimburse you for penalties and...
